Wake Up! WA wins Belmont Small Business Award
The volunteers of Wake Up! WA have been recognised for the hard work they in promoting WA and the local community at this week’s Belmont Small Business Awards.Wake Up! WA was presented with the "Volunteer of the Year" award on Wednseday night in recognition of the work it does with the community and the contribution it makes to the professional development of many media industry hopefuls as they push for a career in an industry that offers very little local opportunity.
The show’s Executive Producer Carol Wallbank, who accepted the award on Wednesday night, said that this was a particluarly rewarding part of the show.
"It is great to see the tireless work our cast and crew put into the show receive some recognition like this. For those of us who get up at 5 or earlier every morning to get the show to air, then go to work or Uni or whatever afterwards, it is reward enough to see how much the show has developed and to watch our viewer numbers grow. However it is nice to be recognised by others for our work as well," said Carol.
As one of the few local television productions left in WA, and the only live show produced every weekday morning, Wake Up! WA has a significant place in WA’s media industry. The show offers local charities, community organisations, sporting groups, and the various talented people of WA an ability to reach a diverse television audience. It is a also great entertainment with local musicians, comedians, dancers and other performers able to strut their stuff while Western Australians are getting ready to tackle their day.
