Wake Up! WA Turns 500
Wake Up! WA, Perth’s only live and local breakfast television program, celebrated its 500th episode on Monday the 9th June.
The 500th episode is an exciting milestone for the team who began the show as ‘Wake up Perth’ in September 2005, having now evolved to one of the most watched shows on Access 31.
As part of the celebrations the episode was filmed with a live studio audience, allowing for members of the public to experience the fun of live television first hand.
2008 is an exciting year for Wake Up! WA, having recently won the national Antenna award for ‘Best News and Current Affairs’. The show has also become an industry leader, streaming every episode live on the internet thanks to a partnership with iiNet.
Wake up! WA is proud to provide a breakfast television show with content selected exclusively for Western Australians. Each day, Wake up! WA interviews interesting members of the local community and provides access for businesses, charities, events and universities to receive essential public exposure.
The show is also an important training and development ground for talented locals to gain vital experience in the television industry without having to move to the eastern states.
“Since it’s inception, Wake Up! WA has become a shining light in true local programming, as there are so few TV shows produced in Western Australia. This year we have a team of over 80 media enthusiasts, proving that people in this state want to create local television,” says Executive Producer, Carol Wallbank.
Wake up! WA is produced by Ego Creative Media, and is broadcast live at 7.00 to 8.00am (replayed at 10.30) from the Lotterywest Studio at Access 31’s headquarters on Great Eastern Highway in Belmont.
Thanks to the installation of a new transmitter by Access 31, the show is now accessible to more Western Australians than ever before.
